There’s a big blood donating event in my town this week.
DONATE BLOOD - SAVE LIVES! the ads proclaim.
But homosexual people are not allowed to donate.
It’s a relic from the times when AIDS was most common in the gay community, when tests weren’t that good and it made sense to minimize the risk. But that was about 20 years ago. Today it’s just disciminating. Sure, you could always lie when donating. But hey, if you don’t want my (perfectly healthy) blood, I won’t force you to take it.
Still, I have to read that stupid ad every time I take the train..
